On an aesthetic level, of course, we will do everything we can to restore this film to its original brilliance and intensity, but also on a personal level. Sarah was honored to receive Martin Scorsese’s restoration proposal in 2017 and understood that we would succeed. It has been a long road. It is with immense joy that we set to work and we would like to express our warmest thanks to Cecilia Cenciarelli for her unfailing support, for believing in this film and in Sarah’s talent. We will remember the last scene of the film and its message of hope: Take heart, comrade, he was our friend, our comrade, he disappeared into the night, we will never forget him…
Participer aujourd’hui à la restauration de ce film aux côtés de la cineteca de Bologne avec le soutien de la Film Fondation est une double victoire. Au niveau esthétique bien sûr, nous ferons tout pour redonner à ce film sa lumière etl’intensité de son origine, mais également au niveau personnel. Sarah a été honorée de recevoir la proposition de restauration de Martin Scorsese en 2017 et compris que nous y arriverions. La route a été longue. C’est avec une immense joie que nous nous mettons au travail et remercions très chaleureusement pour son accompagnement sans faille Cecilia Cenciarelli pour avoir cru ence film et au talent de Sarah.
Nous retiendrons la dernière scène du film et son élan d’espoir : Courage compagnon, il était notre ami, notre camarade, il a disparu dans la nuit, nous ne l’oublierons jamais…
